Though raised in a Bible-believing, Christian home, my journey to find grace began 5 years ago with this question: Will I choose to walk the path of pleasing God or trusting God? “Anchored to Grace” has become my personal creed; a lighthouse in life’s storms; a daily reminder I am loved and accepted just as I am.

In my own life, I have experienced a direct correlation between the way I see myself and the way I see others. The more securely I am anchored to grace, the more grace I am able to extend to others. The more assured of my identity in Christ, the less I am threatened by differences with others. The more I trust God accepts me as I am, the more I trust He accepts others as they are. The less I judge and demand perfection from myself, the more I am able to love and be loved by others.

The purpose of this blog is to help us extend grace to ourselves and one another instead of allowing our differences to become dividers. Misunderstandings or faulty assumptions are kindling that can ignite raging fires.

As a life long Protestant, learning about Catholicism has its challenges. In the beginning, my tolerance was low. It didn’t take long before I had to stop reading or listening because I felt agitated, offended, or even outright shocked by something so foreign to my understanding. Over time, I began to see things differently. I understood more and built a tolerance for a different point of view. I also realized the commonalities in our beliefs, deepened my personal faith, and grew in respect for my Catholic Brothers and Sisters. I have even found myself drawn to and convicted by some aspects of their faith.

After a few introductory writings, each blog post will address a specific topic. The information presented will be the result of research, personal experience, and first-hand information presented by devout Catholics. It is not my intention to present (or invite) opinion but rather to provide factual information. In doing so, I encourage dialogue and study among family and friends, small groups, and personal Bible Study. This is how we truly grow.
